Construction Administration Representative


Overview

CSArch, an A/E/C firm with offices in Albany and Newburgh, NY is currently seeking a full-time Construction Administration Representative to support projects in the lower Hudson Valley region based out of the Newburgh office, with the expectation of regularly being on project site(s). The Construction Administration Representative is responsible for taking the lead on communications and actions on behalf of the Architect and its consultants during the construction phase of a project.

Core Duties

  • Manage the construction administration (CA) of a project, representing the Architect and its consultants throughout the construction phase and closeout
  • Perform submittal and shop drawing review, circulating among the design team as necessary
  • Attend reoccurring project meetings, addressing issues during construction, and seeking resolution with the design team, owner, and/or construction manager
  • Initiate construction document revisions, project reviews and respond to potential change orders
  • Participate in change documentation workflow
  • Review construction material tests & inspections, and equipment commissioning reports
  • Prepare and distribute field observation reports, identifying issues of non-compliance, required actions and progress of the work
  • Review and process Applications for Payment on behalf of the A/E
  • Perform substantial completion inspection(s), and generate respective punch list(s). Perform re-inspection upon notification that corrective work has been completed, coordinated with owner’s representative and/or construction manager
  • Review operation & maintenance, and product warranty submissions, for compliance with the contract documents, and turnover to the Owner
  • Perform post-construction services relative to project closeout, and 11-month warranty inspection

Skillset

  • Licensure Requirements: Professional licensure not required but is a plus

  • Fluent in reading and understanding Construction Documents (contracts, plans, specifications, shop drawings, etc.)

  • Experience: 3-5 years’ experience of progressively complex commercial/municipal/institutional construction experience

  • Has a broad familiarity with construction practices, methods, materials, various common project site conditions, problems encountered and proper procedures for rectification

  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam Revu, Newforma, and Procore is a plus

  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills. Ability to provide briefings and reports

  • Detail oriented; highly organized; self-motivated; accurate; works well under pressure

  • Minimum of 40 hours M-F; overtime as necessary to meet deadlines

  • Travel, driving, occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. May involve outdoor weather, being in proximity to moving mechanical equipment, climbing ladders/scaffolding and observing high area construction activities. Requires use of construction site related PPE; including hardhat, protective footwear, protective eyewear, hearing protection, etc. OSHA 10 certification and recertification will be required, and supported by the firm

  • Background check may be required at the discretion of the project Owner

Educational Requirements

AAS or Bachelor of Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management is not required but is a plus
