Thomas M. Ritzenthaler AIA
Executive Principal
Building a legacy.
A self-proclaimed tool junkie (new tools, old tools, power tools), Tom Ritzenthaler loves nothing more than a hands-on approach and the satisfaction of a job well done. He looks for opportunities to teach collaboration and develops relationships by sharing his expertise and knowledge with the people that surround him. It's a legacy he inherited from his father and is passing on to the staff he mentors as leader of CSArch's Newburgh office.
His career has been dedicated to improving public schools and education. Prior to joining CSArch, he was Vice President at Cannon Design where he directed K-12 educational planning for the firm, establishing new projects up and down the east coast and presenting at educational design symposiums and conferences. He also served as the Director of School Facilities and Transportation for South Orangetown CSD and as an Architect for the Rochester City School District, gaining first-hand experience as the "owner" of a project.
Tom has received numerous awards including the AIA's Certificate of Appreciation for Dedication and Service, Design Excellence Award and Citation of Merit. His work has graced the pages of Design Portfolio and American School & University. A sought after speaker, he recently addressed audiences at the National School Boards Association Conference on the topic "A Referendum in Recession".
An avid motorcyclist for over 20 years, Tom and his wife have enjoyed seeing the country coast to coast from the seat of a bike. It's a passion he also shares with his son, who has been riding in a sidecar with Tom since he was three. As an amateur photographer, Tom loves to capture a moment in time.
