NYSCOSS Winter Institute Panel Presents Broadalbin-Perth CSD’s Transformational Capital Project, March 2017
Firm principals Randy Collins and Bryan Manning will be collaborating with Stephen Tomlinson, superintendent at Broadalbin-Perth Central School District, and Michele Kelly, communications specialist at Capital Region BOCES, as panelists in a presentation during the New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS) Winter Institute in March 2017.
The panel discussion, titled, “Cultivating Community Support for Transformational Capital Projects: A Case Study,” will present a case study of Broadalbin-Perth Central School District’s $39.7 million capital project, the award-winning communications campaign leading up to the successful vote, and the strategic partnership between a district, its architect, and its community to build informed consent for transformational change.
Following the session, attendees will:
- Recognize the importance of gaining and maintaining the trust of their community members.
- Consider the role of key stakeholders in the development of a student- and program-centered capital project proposal.
- Recognize that large-scale and complex capital project proposals require comprehensive communications and marketing plans pre-referendum.
- Understand how and when to engage their architect in a pre-referendum strategy.
The session is scheduled for Monday, March 6, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Hilton Albany, Room: Capital AB.
