High School Pool Renovation
CSArch performed a state-of-the-art renovation and renewal of the Albany High School pool, which had been out of service since the 2015 collapse of a large section of an outside wall due to aging infrastructure. The $4 million pool renovation is part of a $14 million package of repairs and upgrades at 14 district buildings for the City School District of Albany.
Renovations at the pool include the installation of “clearstory” glass to let in natural light, new ceramic floor tiling, acoustic paneling, new LED lighting upgrades, railings, and bleachers in the spectator area. The renovation provides an open and bright environment for spectators and swimmers alike. The second-floor bleacher seating area provides an unobstructed view to the pool area below through transparent rail panels that surround the balcony area.
The new pool facility at Albany High School is a highly anticipated step in the plan to expand and renovate the city’s only public high school. Although separate from the latest $180 million capital project to rebuild and expand the high school, the pool repair project is one of the first steps toward modernizing Albany High School.
