Coxsackie-Athens CSD Coxsackie, NY

The New Library Media Center

CSArch designed the New Library Media Center at Coxsackie-Athens CSD to better meet the needs of 21st century learning. The new library functions very differently than it did years ago, offering more forms of learning and flexible spaces for social and educational experiences.

Mobile and modular furniture throughout the library provide both public and private areas for students and groups to collaborate and study. The new library provides ample space for students, staff, and community members, with flexibility for various room configurations. Learning spaces were designed to offer a stimulating environment and quiet study areas.

Large open glass windows features perforated screening and solar shades to minimize glare while opening up the space to natural daylight. The Genius Bar located at the center of the library offers tech support and group study for school-issued mobile tablets. The library promotes real-world, hands-on STEM education with a 3D printer available for students to use.
