Greater Johnstown Central School District Johnstown, NY
District-Wide Capital Improvements
At Johnstown High School, the science wing, media center, art, and technology rooms were renovated to more adequately accommodate students and programs. The team repaired the 40-year old pool and renovated the locker rooms and gymnasium, which involved the reconfiguration of space to provide ADA compliant spectator seating and more functional space for physical education, athletic, and extra-curricular competitions. The district’s original 50-year old high school office space was renovated and expanded to provide accessibility for students with special needs and address privacy and confidentiality concerns.
Renovations at the junior high school improved space for music, art, science, technology, and home economics. Improvements were made to all three elementary schools, including the creation of a STEM-based learning lab and the construction of an addition to create space for a cafeteria and indoor recess. Art and music rooms were also renovated at the elementary schools.
The project improved the district’s health, safety, connectivity, and accessibility needs. Student pick-up/drop-off areas and bus loops were reconfigured to address safety concerns. The project also included exterior improvements, such as window and roof replacements and repairs.
