Binghamton University Celebrates Completion of Baseball Stadium Complex

On Friday, April 29th, campus leadership, students, faculty, business partners, and fans gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Binghamton University’s new baseball stadium and field house. The event was held in unison with Binghamton’s Friday night game against UMBC and included campus-led tours of the new athletic training, educational, and team spaces. Working in collaboration with Fawley Bryant Architecture and LeChase Construction Services, the team at CSArch has been engaged with the university since 2018 to see this anticipated project to completion.

“The grand opening of the new baseball stadium and field house complex marks an important milestone for the entire Binghamton University community,” said Bill Pennock, Project Manager and Managing Principal at CSArch. “On behalf of CSArch, we are honored to be part of this exciting project with a team of dedicated individuals.”

To enhance the spectator experience, improvements include a new stadium entry, boardwalk, concessions, team store, and expanded stadium and terraced seating. Constructed behind home base is a new hospitality suite, including a VIP lounge, press box, and viewing rooms.

The ground floor of the two-story field house features a new team locker room, player lounge, indoor batting cages, nutrition and fitness areas, and hydrotherapy treatment facilities. The second floor houses a student educational center, coach and staff offices, conference spaces, and a multi-purpose team meeting room with stadium seating overlooking the field.

Announced during a Binghamton University press conference in February 2020, this project is the result of a $60 million anonymous donation – the largest gift in the college’s history. In the end, the new complex will meet NCAA requirements for hosting post-season tournament play, enhance recruitment efforts, and provide athletes and coaching staff with state-of-the-art facilities that stand among the top Division I stadiums in the country.

The project team is made up of CSArch, Architect-of-Record; Fawley Bryant Architecture, Design Architect; LeChase Construction Services, Construction Management; M/E Engineering, MEP & Fire Protection Engineering; Ryan Biggs Clark Davis, Structural Engineering; Environmental Design & Research, Landscape Architecture and Site/Civil Engineering; VJ Associates, Cost Estimating; D2D Green Design, Sustainability; Shen Milsom & Wilke, Audio Visual and Security Design; Commercial Kitchen Consultants, Food Service Design
