Photos of Albany High School's new and renovated spaces, which were phased across seven years of construction.
Originally approved by voters in February 2016, the comprehensive and transformative project to rebuild Albany High School was the result of an extensive planning process involving community members, faculty, students, parents, and administration to imagine and plan for a future-focused, 21st century school building while accommodating a projected enrollment increase to 3,000 students.
Encompassing renovations to approximately 300,400 sf of existing space and nearly 200,000 sf of new construction, the project was completed in four phases:
- Phase 1 constructed a three-story, 120,000-square-foot academic building that opened in February 2020.
- Phase 2 constructed a new two-story, 39,000-square-foot music and fine arts addition in January 2021.
- Phase 3 included the renovation and expansion of the auditorium, a new library/media center, and several new spaces to support CTE programs.
- Phase 4, completed this summer, included a full renovation of the original academic building, an expanded cafeteria and kitchen, and additional CTE spaces.
