To better align its CTE programming with labor trends, the projected job market, and student interests, Newburgh Enlarged CSD is partnering with CSArch to design a new 133,000 sf CTE Building.
New Programming
The building will allow the district to consider new programs including early childhood education, HVAC, plumbing, business and marketing, computer gaming/P-Tech and veterinary science. CSArch is designing spaces to be flexible to meet the needs of potential new programs.
Program Relocation
The Center for Technical Education will allow the district to relocate its existing 19 CTE programs to one facility, allowing for greater collaboration between departments.
Building Organization
Spaces for programs including construction, auto technology, and welding are located on the first floor to provide direct outdoor access and easily move equipment in and out of the building.
Project Scope
The design of the new building will accommodate the relocation of the district’s 18 existing CTE programs and support several new programs.
Encompassing three floors, the design purposefully situates community spaces, gathering spaces, and student support spaces on the first floor along with programs that require outside access. The second and third floors include general classroom and lab space, as well as specialized program space for photography and video production programs.
CSArch took over the project from a previous architect in Fall of 2023. Following an assessment of the project scope, CSArch was able to improve the aidability of the CTE Building. Our team also reduced the total square footage to satisfy SEQRA requirements while increasing the net educational space by enhancing building efficiencies.
