The Boys and Girls Club of Newburgh prides itself on its ability to enable
young people to learn, grow, and achieve success through academics, arts, and athletics opportunities. After 75 years of serving the community, the organization purchased the historic Columbus Trust Bank building in the heart of Newburgh and launched a capital campaign to fund the rehabilitation of the 1890s structure into its new Center for Arts and Education.

CSArch partnered with the Boys and Girls Club to lead the adaptive reuse of the four-story, masonry structure. Partially funded through the National Park Service and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), the project, which is nearly complete, gutted the second, third, and fourth floors down to the exterior masonry walls, plywood subfloor, and wood-framed ceilings.

Upon completion, the building will house 28,000 sf of essential classroom, kitchen, pantry, performing arts, and support space that will better serve Newburgh’s youth through increased learning and engagement opportunities.
