In 2016, voters approved a $39.7 millon, multi-phase capital project at Broadalbin-Perth Central School District to address infrastructure needs, modernize classrooms, and enhance safety and security.
An addition of five new pre-kindergarten classrooms at the Perth campus will create modern, flexible classrooms to enhance active learning for young students at a critical developmental age. In the center of the addition, a common area will feature soft seating, write-on wall surfaces, and built-in benches to promote learning outside the classrooms.
Renovations of existing kindergarten and grades 1-3 classroom space will accommodate groups of various sizes for one-on-one instruction and small group learning. Community and support spaces will be converted into general classrooms to provide additional instructional space.
Past the new secure vestibule, an expanded entry lobby will feature large windows to take advantage of natural light. The media center, located adjacent to the lobby, will be centralized to serve the entire school. An expanded cafeteria will be located on the second floor with open views into the lobby.
The project includes a major reorganization of educational and support spaces at both the Broadalbin and Perth campuses to improve organization and safety. Additional improvements include a renovation of the elementary auditorium, secure vestibule renovations, transportation center improvements, athletic upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
Upon completion, the project will enhance safety and security, support 21st century learning, upgrade athletic facilities, and improve operational efficiency.
