GARDENER-DICKINSON SCHOOL RENOVATION
After an enrollment study revealed that an increasing student population would exceed the district's current capacity, CSArch designed several new spaces to accomodate the increase.
The design team developed a plan whereby the building’s second floor is cantilevered out over a steep drop off at the rear of the campus. The resulting construction yielded the required square footage for new Pre-K classroom space while simultaneously creating expansive views of the surrounding Wynantskill valley, enhancing the student experience.
A detailed enrollment study of Wynantskill Union Free School District revealed that the district was experiencing an increase in enrollment and would need to expand its capacity to better accommodate the youngest incoming student population.
Through the planning process, CSArch identified other district necessities including a new music suite, dedicated special education spaces, a conference room, and the formation of a pre-k program. Due to a challenging and confined topography on the singular campus, the design team was faced with providing the required program space within a very limited site footprint.
